The smallest smartphone has been introduced. In September 2006 RIM (Research In Motion) finally announced the much awaited and the world's one of the smallest smartphone, gBlackBerry Pearl 8100. BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is the most upgraded device as compared to any Blackberry device in the market. The phone is 3S i.e. small, smart and stylish. A Blackberry user can expect everything in this phone that he wanted in his Blackberry phone. It comes complete with digital camera, multimedia capabilities and expandable memory. Previously I had written the details that I had found out during the rumours but now the actual one's. BlackBerry Pearl 8100 is quad band phone with GPRS and EDGE which can be used for international roaming between North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. The size of the TFT screen with 65k colours in regards to its dimension is 107 x 50 x 14.5 mm. 8100 weighs around 89.5g. The phone consists of 64 MB flash memory which can be increased with the help of card slot (mini SD). Data transfer takes place with the help of Bluetooth and charging takes place through USB port. 8100 is integrated with 1.3 MP camera with video and flash. The phone can view Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF documents with help of Document Viewer. It supports almost all audio formats (MP3, MIDI, AMR-NB, AAC/AAC+/eAAC+) and video formats (MPEG4 Part 2 Simple Profile, H.263 ) which can be played through media player.
