LG U830

There's no doubt that the LG Chocolate has been one of the hottest mobile phone brands during 2006. LG have followed this up with various handsets including the 3G LG KU800, and the LG U830 stretches the chocolatiness even further with a 3G clamshell phone, which is exclusive to the Hutchison 3 network. The LG U830 is a smooth looking 3G clamshell with touch-sensitive media controls on the outside (mouseover the image below to see them), and an unfussy and sensible design inside. At just 14.8mm thick and only 93 grams in weight, the U830 is very compact for a 3G phone too.

One criticism of the original Chocolate phone was that it wasn't really very high-tech. The LG U830 is a completely different proposition, because the technology is probably even more interesting than the looks . It's not just a 3G phone, the LG U830 is an HSDPA device - this means that it has access to 3's 3.5G data network (where available). There's a whopping 180Mb of internal memory (although it doesn't seem to be expandable), a 2 megapixel main camera with a subcamera for video calling , a large 240×320 pixel display, a multimedia player and stereo Bluetooth. There's an email client and web browser too.

My u880 is awesome and i was looking at also getting the u830 from 3 but after reading the specs and having a test run at the local 3 shop I won't be getting the u830 to compliment by u880.

Other than no MicroSD card slot, its a very nice handset with easy to use menu interface (very similar to the u880) the fixed cam is way much better than the swivel u880 1.3MP cam and also the u830 has a VGA cam for Video Calls which bring it in line with the other fixed cam handsets.

If LG revise there thinking and build it with a MicroSD card slot then they will have a major winning handset in the market but typical LG ...

Oh well the u880 continues in service and works great with the temporary unlock to use it with Vodafone 3G/GPRS

The phone looks great and functionality seems to be good, but I am having problems downloading music.
