Motorola A835 The A835 is descendant to the A830, the Motorola's first 3G cell phone, presented in the UK . The major enhancement are an incorporated camera, video calling, a 65k colour display (as a substitute of 4k colours), added internal memory, "haptics" (lighting and vibration effects), and a 5-way navi-key. The A835 also weigh a full 55g fewer than its predecessor!
The latest 65k colour and 176 x 220 pixels display is better quality. It has two VGA 0.3 megapixel camera's, first facing outwards, and second facing the user. You can switch between the two easily and quickly, great for self portraits, and necessary for the videocall function. The camera is simple to use and have a variety of light settings and image size. The photo quality is excellent, but falls down a bit when in inferior lights, too act as video recorders, produce the standard 176x144 QCIF mp4 video's with sound, which are recordable in lengths of up to 10 sec or 3 minutes, which I find to be sufficient The A835 retains the useful A830features: video playback and recording, MP3 playback, downloadable Java applications, Bluetooth connectivity.
The joystick is excellent, for browsing through menu's and most of all, for playing games. The Infrared port is well put at the top of the phone which is good.
The SO is user-friendly, and you will discover yourself taking to it with easiness. It has a straight organizer, with a simple to use calendar and task list combined. But there is no notepad disappointingly and you can only set an alarm attached to a scheduled time. And yet even if the phone has a voice recorder function, it can not be use to generate voice memo's, only for voice dialing, and while sending an mms.
The telephone has all the further little gadgets like voice dialing, picture caller ID, sms, mms, video mms, email client, phone book, individual caller ringtones, infrared & bluetooth. It has an html browser but it is not particularly useful, so you might want to download a java html browser like reqwireless, webviewer and use that as an alternative. You can too turn off the images to save data costs.
The speaker on this cell phone is dominant. Just looking at it you know to expect a great output. Great for playing music during the mp3 player function when you don't want to use your stereo headphones. Mp3's be able to be used as ringtones through a certain edition of the software, typically when the firmware's upgraded. Although the polyphonic and midi are still very good and get up less space. These can be use for alarms also.
The A835 has a big memory, 64MB, which is one of the largest base memory of several phone, but this is not expandable with a memory card slot.
In general this is an excellent phone with loads of features and is at a very good price.
