Design

The Alcatel OneTouch-E257 is a compact clamshell phone. Measures 43 x 83 x 22 mm in size and weighing 77 grams, it is light and feels very slender despite its size.The 4096-color display is dim, not very bright and crisp, but is a far step above the very dim 256-color versions on even the most recent Alcatel models.The display resolution 102 x 80 pixel is not very high but is normal for small phone like this.
The left side of the unit holds a spacious volume rocker.There is nice LEDs which notify users of new messages, active network and missed calls. This is not common for all Alcatel handsets and is not necessary to pick up and activate the device to see whether any alerts are waiting.

Ergonomics

The OneTouch-E257 is not comfortable for hold in ones hand because it is too wide.Sporting a simple and user friendly menu in style with other recent Alcatel handsets.The plastic keypad has very limited key travel and jiggles independently of the phone, with the comfortable center keys, make the phone easer to dial.And last,but not least, a simple two-way navigation buttons centered below the display.
